Ryobi 18V One+ HP Brushless Swiftclean Spot Cleaner
With two kids and a couple of rowdy dogs in my home, messes of all shapes and sizes are nothing short of a common occurrence. Most of the time, a good all-purpose cleaner and some paper towels will do the trick, but what if there was a better way? We’ve got our hands on the Ryobi 18V Cordless Spot Cleaner to see how it handles our everyday messes, and more!
With kids and pets at home, spills and messes are inevitable. The Ryobi 18V mid-size spot cleaner’s brushless motor delivers up to 29 CFM of airflow and 70 IOW (inches of water) of sealed suction. That’s over 4X the suction power of Ryobi’s handheld Swiftclean Spot Cleaner! It has a 4-foot flexible hose and two detachable nozzles.
The wider fan nozzle is great for cleaning larger surface areas, such as rugs and car seats, while the narrower crevice nozzle is ideal for tight spaces. Both nozzles have integrated brushes to agitate stains and work your cleaning solution into the material.
Getting started with this spot cleaner is both fast and easy thanks to Ryobi’s straightforward design. Simply fill the onboard solution tank with your favorite cleaner, activate the vacuum, and pull the trigger to dispense the detergent. Next, use the integrated brushes to agitate the area, and finally, pull the vacuum nozzle across the area to lift away the dirt and grime.
All of that dirty liquid goes straight into the onboard collection tank for easy disposal. It’s important to note that this tool is best suited for cleaning fresh spills. Ryobi tells us that it’s really intended to clean up set-in stains, but rather to prevent immediate messes from becoming set-in stains.
Ryobi also designed this spot cleaner to be easy to clean and maintain. All the clear components are top rack dishwasher-safe, eliminating the need to clean them all by hand. These components include the nozzles, solution tank, and waste tank.
This mid-size cordless spot cleaner weighs 8.8 pounds as a bare tool and 10.4 pounds with a 4.0Ah High Performance battery. From tip to tail, it measures 15.5 inches and stands 10.5 inches tall. While it’s not technically a handheld tool, this lightweight design is still exceptionally maneuverable.
The flexible hose and accompanying attachments make it very easy to clean around furniture or your vehicle seats. Keep in mind, you will see some extra weight depending on your choice of battery and the amount of liquid present in the machine. Luckily, there’s a folding handle top handle for easy transport.
Ryobi did a great job with the hose and accessory management on this spot cleaner. The hose wraps neatly around the bottom of the unit and clips to the side when not in use. Additionally, there’s a space for the crevice nozzle and hose clean-out attachment right below the hose clamp.
This Ryobi mid-size spot cleaner retails for $169 as a bare tool and $219 as a kit. The kit includes a 4.0Ah High Performance battery and charger. Both options come with a fan nozzle, a crevice nozzle, a soft brush insert, a rubber brush insert, a hose clean-out attachment, and a 6-ounce bottle of Ryobi’s Oxy Cleaning concentrate solution.
Ryobi backs this spot cleaner with a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty.
The Ryobi 18V Mid-Size Spot Cleaner delivers powerful suction in a compact and lightweight platform. The integrated hose and accessory management systems help maintain its sleek design, and the dishwasher-safe components are a big plus in our book.
Whether you’re already on the Ryobi 18V battery platform or just getting started, we think this is a great option for quickly tackling messes at home or on the go.
